JEWELLERY CARE

PEARLS

Pearls are an organic gemstone and require special attention in order to ensure that their nacre and lustre do not become damaged or dulled. If cared for correctly, they will remain beautiful. To clean your pearls, simply wipe them with a soft, damp cloth to remove excess oils and dirt. Keep pearls away from cleaning products, cosmetics, sunblock, perfume and hairspray as they may contain chemicals that can dramatically deteriorate the surface of the pearl. Avoid the jewellery coming into contact with abrasive soaps, chemicals, detergents or alcohols as these chemicals will cause discolouration and damage.

Pearls need fresh air, and although pearls can be worn every day, it is advisable not to be worn while showering, swimming or exercising. Pearls need to kept separately from other jewellery, wrapped in a soft cloth or store in a protective jewellery pouch with a soft inner lining away from heat and plastic.

DIAMONDS

Diamonds are remarkably durableand are uniquely resistant to damage by heat or scratching. That said, diamonds are not indestructible. They can chip and break or become loose or lost in a weakened setting, Wear diamond jewellery with care.To help maintain your jewellery’s shine, we recommend cleaning it periodically with a mixture of gentle detergent and warm water and have it periodically cleaned and its setting examined by a professional jeweller to maintain its beauty and integrity over time.

GOLD

Gold jewellery is generally durable enough for everyday wear but should be regularly cleaned and checked for wear and damages. Remove gold pieces when swimming in pool or spa as chlorine as it will weaken your gold jewellery’s structure and eventually lead to breakage.

You can clean it yourself with warm, soapy water but we recommend periodical professional cleaning for optimum result and to make sure settings and clasps are secure.

Gold should be stored in a cool, dry place in separate compartments in a jewellery box or soft pouch to prevent scratches or tangling.

In order to make gold white, they are plated with an extremely hard element called rhodium. Although strong, rhodium may wear away over time. Replating is a simple process that can be done to restore whiteness to your jewellery.

STERLING SILVER

Due to sterling silver’s relative flexibility, it is not as strong as gold. We recommend removing your sterling silver jewellery before engaging in physical activities like gardening, the gym, or swimming. This will help in extending the longevity of your jewellery.

Sterling silver naturally tarnishes over time, especially when exposed to salt air and products containing sulfur and water. Before storage, use a soft cloth and gently rub your item and rinse the silver thoroughly in warm water and carefully dry. Store individually with anti-tarnish properties.

Our White sterling silver pieces are plated with white Rhodium for shine and a sparkling finish. Rhodium plating will naturally wear over time; therefore, it should be replated from frequently to ensure excellent colour and shine.
